Steward's Report
A pre–race sample was taken from Eco Bale.
Eco Bale was slow to begin.
Straight Speed (veered out and marred Lochinvar Ruby in the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Colin Bermingham regarding Straight Speed’s racing manners. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123, Straight Speed was charged with marring. Mr Bermingham pleaded guilty to the charge. Straight Speed was suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Flying Petal (severely checked turning into the home straight) underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the left carpus. A 3 day stand-down period was imposed.
