Steward's Report
High Contact – Late scratching at 6:16pm on the advice of the On– Track Veterinarian (GAR 92) due to an elevated temperature. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Sorceress was quick to begin. Concrete Egan was slow to begin.
Darnum Dazzler visibly eased and pulled up on the first turn. Darnum Dazzler ran back in the opposite direction and subsequently the event was converted into a finish-on lure. Following the event all greyhounds underwent veterinary examinations:
- Darnum Dazzler was found to have a left back muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Peter Handley regarding Darnum Dazzler's racing manners on the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Darnum Dazzler was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Handley pleaded guilty to the charge. Darnum Dazzler must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
- Sorceress, Secrets Without and Just Angelic were reported to have no apparent injury.
- Harvington was found to have a left wrist sprain. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
- Water Bomb was found to have a spike wound to the left hind toe. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
- Concrete Egan was found to have a left monkey muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
